Saudi Arabia: BlackBerry Messenger always accessible

The phone's multimedia messaging BlackBerry was available Saturday in Saudi Arabia despite a decision to suspend, said users.

"One solution is to consider soon with Canadian society," said the official without giving further details under the guise of anonymity.

The CITC had justified its decision by stating that the use of BlackBerry violated regulations in force in the country. The ultra-secure encryption of the BlackBerry does not allow authorities to monitor the content of exchanges of its users.

Riyadh joining in the UAE announced that on Sunday, suspension from the October 11 key services for BlackBerry, arguing that they did not comply with regulations.

Saudi Arabia (700,000 subscribers) as the UAE (500,000 subscribers) censor Internet access, including opposition political sites or pornographic.

On Thursday, the United States and Canada have announced discussions with countries who seek to better monitor these phones.
